Sambal Yojana benefits cover six critical areas of financial support for unorganized sector workers in Madhya Pradesh. Together, these benefits can total over ₹6.5 lakh per family — making the Sambal Yojana one of the most comprehensive welfare schemes for informal workers in India. This article explains every Sambal Yojana benefit in detail, including exact amounts, eligibility conditions, and how to claim each one.
Overview of All Sambal Yojana Benefits

Accidental Death Benefit — ₹4,00,000
The accidental death benefit is the highest-value Sambal Yojana benefit. If a registered worker dies in an accident — road accident, workplace accident, drowning, electrocution, or any other accidental cause — the registered nominee receives ₹4,00,000. This amount was doubled from ₹2 lakh in Sambal 2.0, making it a significant upgrade over the original scheme.
Eligibility conditions: Sambal Card must be active at the time of the accident. A police FIR documenting the accident is mandatory. A post-mortem report is required for death claims. The claim must be filed within 1 year of the accident date.
How to claim: File an FIR immediately after the accident. Obtain the post-mortem report and death certificate. Submit the claim on sambal.mp.gov.in or at the nearest CSC centre with nominee bank details. Processing typically takes 60 to 90 days after all documents are submitted.

Natural Death Benefit — ₹2,00,000
If the worker dies from natural causes — illness, age, or disease — the registered nominee receives ₹2,00,000. This benefit covers all natural deaths and does not require a police FIR. However, a death certificate from the local municipal authority or Gram Panchayat is required. Additionally, the nominee must be registered on the Sambal portal before the worker’s death — claims cannot be processed without a registered nominee.
Important: Register your nominee immediately after getting your Sambal Card. Use our Nominee Registration Guide to complete this in 5 minutes online.
Permanent Disability Benefit — Up to ₹2,00,000
If a registered worker suffers permanent disability due to an accident, they receive financial compensation based on the disability percentage certified by a government hospital medical board. This Sambal Yojana benefit is paid to the worker directly — not to the nominee — since the worker is still alive.
- 100% permanent disability: ₹2,00,000
- 50% to 99% disability: ₹1,00,000
- 25% to 49% disability: ₹50,000
- Below 25%: Not covered under this benefit
A police FIR and government medical board disability certificate are both mandatory. The claim must be filed within 1 year of the accident date.
Maternity Assistance Benefit — ₹16,000 Per Delivery
The maternity Sambal Yojana benefit provides ₹16,000 per delivery to female registered workers, paid in two instalments:
- First instalment — ₹4,000: Paid before delivery upon pregnancy registration with ANM or health centre
- Second instalment — ₹12,000: Paid after delivery upon child birth registration
This benefit is available for a maximum of 2 deliveries per female worker. The first instalment should be applied for as soon as pregnancy is registered — do not wait for delivery. Use our Maternity Benefit Eligibility Checker to find out exactly which instalment you can claim right now and what steps to take.
Education Scholarship — ₹500 to ₹5,000 Per Child Per Year
Children of registered Sambal Card holders who are enrolled in school receive an annual education scholarship. The amount varies by class level, providing more support for higher education. Consequently, families with children studying in higher classes receive significantly more scholarship money.
| Class | Annual Scholarship Amount |
|---|---|
| Class 1 to 5 | ₹500 |
| Class 6 to 8 | ₹1,000 |
| Class 9 to 10 | ₹2,000 |
| Class 11 to 12 | ₹3,000 |
| College/Diploma/Polytechnic | ₹5,000 |
Scholarships must be applied for annually on sambal.mp.gov.in before the academic deadline, typically in March or April. Upload the child’s school enrollment proof and latest marksheet as part of the application.
Funeral Assistance — ₹5,000
The funeral assistance Sambal Yojana benefit provides ₹5,000 immediately upon the worker’s death to help the family with funeral expenses. This amount is processed the same day or within 24 hours at the Gram Panchayat or CSC centre — much faster than the regular death benefit which takes 60 to 90 days.
Importantly, the funeral assistance and the regular death benefit are two separate claims. Your family can and should claim both. The funeral assistance is claimed at the Gram Panchayat with a death certificate; the full death benefit is claimed on the Sambal portal.

Frequently Asked Questions About Sambal Yojana Benefits
Can I receive multiple Sambal Yojana benefits at the same time?
Yes. Multiple benefits can be active simultaneously. For example, a family can receive an education scholarship for children at the same time as a maternity benefit for the mother. Each benefit is triggered by a separate event and claimed independently. Death and accident benefits are triggered only when those specific events occur.
How long does it take to receive Sambal Yojana benefits after claiming?
Funeral assistance is processed same-day or within 24 hours. Education scholarships typically take 15 to 30 days. Maternity benefits take 30 to 45 days per instalment. Death and accident benefits take 60 to 90 days due to verification requirements. If processing exceeds these timelines, file a grievance on the Sambal portal.
What happens to benefits if the Sambal Card holder changes their mobile number?
Update your new mobile number on the Samagra portal first, as Samagra is the master database. After updating Samagra, the change reflects on your Sambal Card. Benefits will not be affected as long as your bank account details and nominee registration remain current and accurate.
